Structure-function relations in neural systems. I am interested in using theoretical and computational tools to understand how the structure of neural systems contribute to the systems' dynamics and computational function. "Structure" here is broadly defined, from the subcellular structure at the neuronal scale (e.g. dendritic structure) to the connectivity structure at the network scale. I also develop tools for analysis of neural population activity to infer functional connectivity and hidden brain states.

Dendritic computations and neural information processing. I apply information-theoretic methods and multicompartment biophysical modeling to investigate how the complex electrophysiological features of dendrites contribute to their computations beyond linear summation of their inputs. I am interested in using these insights in the design of neuro-inspired artificial intelligence.
